Cardinals Ranked #5 Pre-Season by Street & Smith's

Street & Smith's College Football preview magazine is out and has ranked the TVCC Cardinals #5 in the nation among Junior College football programs.  The ranking marks the fourth consecutive year the Cardinals have been ranked in the pre-season top 8 by the publication formerly known as The Sporting News, with #3 rankings in 2014 and 2015 and #8 in 2016.  They have held the highest preseason and post-season ranking of all members in the SWJCFC during the last 4 years.

Compiled by junior college sports writer, Tony Jimenez, the nationally distributed college football magazine is currently available on newstands nationwide.  Street & Smith's Top 25 preseason poll considered all 134 two-year programs that play football, including 65 NJCAA programs and 69 schools that compete in the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).  The Top 5 in this year's poll ranks the NJCAA defending national champions Garden City number 1, followed by CCCAA defending state champions Fullerton College, then perenial powers East Mississippi, Arizona Western and Trinity Valley.

The 4-time defending SWJCFC Champion Cardinals' await their NJCAA pre-season ranking for 2017, in which they have also previously received top recognition in the conference and nation.  For the last 3 seasons the Cardinals preseason NJCAA poll rankings were #4 in 2014, #2 in 2015 and #3 in 2016. The NJCAA's 2017 pre-season poll will be released in mid-August.
