BOUNCE BACK: Cardinals get back in win column, 83-69

Wendell Mitchell poured in 30 points Wednesday night to lead the 18th-ranked Cardinals to an 83-69 win on the road against Panola.

Mitchell, a Baylor University transfer, lit up the Ponies, hitting 8-of-15 shots from the floor  and going 10-of-10 from the free throw line. Mitchell had four three-pointers, nine assists, seven rebounds and six steals.

Jaime Enchenique added 14 points for the Cardinals and Lorenzo Phillips 13. Phillips had three three-pointers. The 15th-ranked Cardinals took one on the chin at home Saturday, falling 96-82 to No. 24 Paris in a Region XIV Conference contest.

The Cardinals trailed throughout most of the first half before rallying for a 42-40 halftime lead. The Cardinals outscored the Poniies 41-29 in the second half.

With the win, the Cardinals raised their season record to 18-3. They are 9-1 in Region XIV Conference. Paris was a 93-90 loser in double overtime to Tyler, leaving the Cardinals alone at the top of the East Zone.

The Cardinals are scheduled to be at home Saturday against Navarro (15-4, 6-3) in a 4 p.m. start. The game will be webcast by Cardinal Sports Network.
