Breana Florez made her last at-bat at Drumgoole Field at Cain Park a memorable one near sunset Wednesday.
Smashing a double to right-center field, Florez drove in Torri Hedrick, who had also doubled, to put the Trinity Valley Community College Lady Cardinals in the win column with a 6-5 decision against Kilgore College in the second game of a doubleheader.
The win gave the Lady Cardinals a split with the Lady Rangers, who were a 5-4 winner in Game 1.
The Lady Cardinals, 24-24 overall and 7-19 in conference, are scheduled to close the season on the road Saturday against Paris. Doubleheader action begins at 1 p.m.
Trailing 5-4 as the bottom half of the seventh began, the Lady Cardinals quickly went to work. Savanah Martinez got things going with a double to right field. Hedrick then brought her home with a two-bagger, setting the table for Florez to end things in walk-off fashion.
The Lady Cardinals had seven hits in the doubleheader nightcap, highlighted by a two-run home run by Mele Pasikala in the fourth inning.
Kimberly Hughes went the distance in the circle for the Lady Cardinals to pick up the win.
In the first game, Kilgore scored three runs in the fifth inning to overcome the Lady Cardinals.
Shannon Klaus and Hedrick led the Lady Cardinals at the plate with a pair of singles each. Florez also had a single.
