With the 2026 softball season fast approaching, construction of the new Drumgoole Field continues at Trinity Valley Community College.

Seating is now being installed, which will be followed by the press box and construction of the dugouts.

Expected delays in the arrival of the scoreboard, netting and padding make it unlikely the new $2.1 million facility, located behind Cardinal Fitness Center on the southeast corner of campus, will be finished in time for the home opener on Saturday, Feb. 7, according to Eddie Kite, Associate Vice President of Athletics.

Kite said opening the new facility is likely to be in the first week of March. Until then, home games will remain at Drumgoole Field at Cain Park.

The Cardinals have 11 home doubleheaders on the schedule from March 2 to season's end.
